SOCA star Machel Montano was involved in a vehicular accident yesterday while on his way to court to attend a matter in which he is accused of assaulting four people outside the Zen nightclub in Port of Spain in 2007.
Montano said he was in the front passenger seat of his black Range Rover vehicle which was being driven by his personal driver, identified only as Marvin, along Abercromby Street, Port of Spain when it was involved in a collision with a taxi.
One side of the Range Rover was damaged during the accident, Montano said.
He said he had no choice but to leave his driver behind and make his way to the courthouse by foot in order to avoid being late.
When he arrived at the court shortly after 10 a.m., the matter was adjourned to June 7 in the absence of presiding Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor.
Montano is accused of assaulting Brandis Browne, Russell Pollonais, Gerard Bowrin and Janelle Lee Chee outside the Port of Spain club on April 27.
Joel "Zan" Fezeck and Kernel Roberts are both charged with assaulting Browne and Pollonais, while 2011 Young King, Rodney "Benjai" Le Blanc faces a single charge of assaulting Pollonais.
Montano faces an additional charge of using obscene language
